A Motherhood Retreat

We came, we saw, we laugh, we cried, we ate, we stretched… we conquered. Thank you so much to all the mamas who created the time for themselves, who organized babysitters, food prepped, pumped milk, or pumped milk at the event. And to all the womxn who had a hand in helping make the Motherhood Retreat as special as it was.

The Our Anak Village

So what do you do at a Motherhood Retreat? You spend some well-deserved + long overdue time to yourself. We unplugged from the rest of the world and enjoyed a few hours just to ourselves in a safe and cozy space. Steph, of All The Mama Feels led us in an interactive talk + workshop, where subjects covered everything from self gratitude, self worth, building a supportive village, the world of social media, listening to our hearts vs the mind, ego, all while journaling, sharing stories and much more.

After that emotion-filled session, the mamas were really connected and feeling comfortable sharing their stories and opening up with old friends + new friends. Good moment for some food, more talk and pumping ;) And great timing for the Feelosophy yoga team to arrive, and DJ Softie Shan to set up to play some beats.

Here enters the light change of mood we needed. Everybody shook off the emotion from the workshop, and were ready to get their stretch (and massage) on with Feelosophy, which was led by another amazing mama, Ash. She really knew what a mama’s body needed, and made us all laugh out loud along the way. Not to forget killer beats by Softie Shan. This was definitely not your basic silent yoga class, no… There was laughing, singing, and calling out, “yaaas, that’s my jam”.

Finally, we finished up the evening with more delicious eats from Field & Social, and Chau Veggie (because how often do us mamas get to enjoy an uninterrupted meal), as well as a little shopping in our Mini Market featuring It’s A Ritual, herbal magic for your skin, Mifa And Co, all natural bath + body care, and The Prepared Environment was there helping caregivers create a prepared, organized and child-friendly home.

Already brainstorming for retreat #2 for Spring 2019. Are you coming?
